The 2022 Ford Bronco Sport is a new model of SUV recently announced by Ford. It will have driver knee and front seat-mounted side-impact airbags as standard equipment. When activated, the driver's knee airbag inflates to protect the driver's knees and shins from injury in the event of a frontal collision. The driver's knee airbag is between the two front seats under the center console. When deploying, it pushes forward to protect the lower part of the driver's body. It covers from the knees to below the center console. The driver knee airbag is designed to help reduce serious leg injuries when an occupant's knees hit hard interior surfaces during a frontal collision. The front seat-mounted side-impact airbag system in the 2022 Ford Bronco Sport is designed to provide supplemental protection above that offered by standard frontal airbags, which do not protect occupants from the risk of injury from striking objects outside of the vehicle. The front seat-mounted side-impact airbags, when activated, inflate to help protect both front seat outboard occupants, including the driver, from hitting and being injured by side structures or other vehicles during a side collision. The front seat side impact airbags are located in both outboard seating positions. When deploying, they push toward each other and their respective A-pillars. This helps them cover a wider area of the passenger compartment and gives better protection to occupants sitting in different positions on either side of the vehicle.
