Ford’s latest models of hybrid vehicles, including the 2022 Ford Escape SE Hybrid, are equipped with a voice-activated touchscreen navigation system with pinch-to-zoom capability. This feature allows you to control the navigation system without touching the screen, which makes driving while using the GPS much safer. For example, if you wanted to zoom in on a map, you could pinch your fingers together on the touchscreen to increase the magnification. You can select destinations by speaking your directions aloud. The navigation system also displays your route as you travel using an overhead view of the road and landmarks.
The system has a built-in speech recognition feature, and the navigation system will do the rest. It lets you say a place name and then type in a specific street address, intersection, zip code, or airport code. You can even say a point of interest like “movie theater,” and it will try to find where you are and what is nearby.
So if you do not feel like typing anything into the navigation system, you do not have to. Just press the voice button on the steering wheel and start speaking. The only thing is that it works best when your vehicle is stopped, and there are not many other things around to confuse the voice recognition software.
