2022 Ford Mustang – A Combination of Appearance and Ability

Aug 19,2022

The 2022 Ford Mustang is one of the best sports cars going around. It is fast, fun to drive, and brags a premium interior with intuitive tech features.

With convertible and coupe body styles, noteworthy performance-enhancement options, and innumerable appearance packages, the 2022 Mustang offers plenty of room for customization. The power, meanwhile, can come from either a muscular 5.0-liter V-8 or a mighty turbo four; both engines propel the rear wheels through either an impactful 10-speed automatic or a delightful manual transmission.

Read on for a comprehensive review of the 2022 Ford Mustang.

Engine

As mentioned above, there is no dearth of engine options with the Mustang. The four-cylinder, turbocharged engine comes with either 310 or 330 hp, depending upon the trim. You can upgrade to either a mighty 480- or 460-horsepower V8 or go all the way up to the GT500 model offering ,supercharged V8 blasting a stunning 760 horsepower.

Depending upon your chosen engine, you can choose between a 10-speed automatic, seven-speed dual-clutch automatic, and a six-speed manual transmission.

The standard engine provides decent acceleration but may buckle under stronger throttle. The V8 engines are considerably more herculean, and the transmission options are well-refined and impressive.

Mileage

The fuel economy for the 2022 Mustang is not yet available but is expected to be largely similar to the 2021 model, which we will discuss in this section.

The turbo-four base engine and 10-speed automatic transmission allow the Mustang fastback to deliver a maximum of 32 miles per gallon on the highway and 21 miles-per-gallon in the city. These ratings are on par with other four-cylindered sports cars but are well beyond anything that any rival muscle car can deliver.

Replace the fastback with the convertible or the automatic transmission with the manual – or if you go for the boosted horsepower – mileage ratings go down to 26 miles-per-gallon on the highway and 19 miles per gallon within the city.

The V8-driven Mustang GT trims with the automatic transmission deliver 25 and 16 miles-per-gallon on the highway and in the city, respectively, while those with manual transmission offer 24 and 15 miles per gallon.

The Shelby 500 delivers 18 and 12 mpg, making it one of the least fuel-efficient cars in this class.

Handling and Ride

A magnificent driving machine, the Mustang’s sturdy brakes, well-weighted steering, and adept handling make for a smooth ride and a pristine driving experience.

Speed

The standard EcoBoost, when paired with the automatic transmission, takes around five seconds to go from 0 to 60 mph, packing a top speed of 121 miles per hour.

Models containing the EcoBoost High-Performance Package cover the 0 to 60 distance somewhere between four and five seconds, while an automatic-equipped 2022 Mustang can make this sprint in about four seconds. Both these models clock a 125-mph top speed.

The Shelby GT500, meanwhile, takes a mere 3.5 seconds to go from 0 to 60 mph, delivering an impressive top speed of 180 miles per hour.

Interior

Quality

The Mustang interior is quite pleasant, bragging a premium build quality. That said, it does comprise some hard plastic materials.

Navigation, Bluetooth, and Infotainment

The Mustang only offers a small bunch of standard features, but the SYNC 3 infotainment system contains a lot of popular options. The SYNC 3 may not be the most high-tech interface, but it is user-friendly, contains intuitive smartphone connectivity technology, and supplements the main touch-screen with a digital instrument cluster.

Standard Infotainment Features

  • Voice-controlled SYNC infotainment system
  • Six-speaker stereo
  • Wi-Fi hotspot
  • FordPass Connect (allows you to do things like unlocking and locking the car through your smart-phone)

Available Info-tainment Features

  • 8-inch touch-screen
  • 12-speaker Bang and Olufsen sound system
  • Nine-speaker stereo
  • HD radio
  • Satellite radio
  • Android Auto
  • Apple CarPlay
  •   Two USB ports

Additional Standard Features

  • Proximity keyless entry

Other Available Features

  • Remote start
  • Automatic climate control (dual-zone)
  • Digital instrument cluster (12-inch)

Cargo Space

The Ford Mustang is largely unrivaled in terms of cargo space. The convertible offers 11.4 cubic feet of cargo space, while the fastback delivers 13.5 cubic feet of it.

Safety

Below are the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) ratings for the Ford Mustang 2022:
