Ford Motor Company has launched a voice-activated navigation system for its 2022 Mustang Mach 1 model that also has the pinch-to-zoom capability. The new system will be available in addition to the current touchscreen display.
The navigation system that includes speech recognition can recognize navigation destinations that are entered using voice commands. Examples of such requests include “Take me to the nearest Starbucks” and “Drive me to my sister’s house.” Another way for the user to input destinations is by typing them into a search bar that appears on the screen.
The navigation system offers a pinch-to-zoom capability, which allows the user to zoom in on a specific region of interest by pinching their fingers together on the touch screen display. This feature makes it easier for users to find precise facts about nearby landmarks or attractions, such as the distance between them and a destination or the cuisine that they specialize in serving.
Voice recognition systems have been used for several decades, but thanks to recent developments in artificial intelligence, they have just lately grown more advanced. The most recent developments are essentially the result of innovations in natural language processing (NLP) technology, which have made it possible for computers to understand human speech in a far more accurate manner than in the past.
