Ford has launched its 2022 Ford Mustang Mach-E GT with a new door latch technology that will allow you to open your car’s doors without touching them. The automaker will also offer the new feature on its other vehicles later this year. The doors will use an electro-mechanical locking system that uses electricity to move metal pins through a series of holes.
The 2022 Ford Mustang Mach-E GT’s new technology, called e-latch, uses Bluetooth connectivity and ultrasonic sensors to detect when someone approaches a door. When they get within range of the vehicle, the door automatically unlocks and opens up when they push on it with their hand or foot. The door handle is an electric motor with a cable attached. When you press the button on your door handle and pull up on it, it pulls a cable that opens up the latch and allows you to open your door.
The new e-latch system offers several benefits over traditional mechanical door latches. It has no moving parts, so there are fewer things that can break or wear out over time, it takes less force to open and close them, and they are easier and safer to close because there is no pull-on handle that needs pulling down on before closing the door again.
