The 2022 Jeep Compass features a Selec-Terrain traction management system that allows the driver to select from multiple settings, each of which provides optimal performance for different road conditions.
The 2022 Jeep Compass Selec-Terrain, traction management system has been engineered to optimize grip in all conditions.
The multiple modes are as follows:
Auto: The system automatically detects the terrain, vehicle speed, and engine torque to determine which mode to use.
Snow: For slippery conditions at low speeds. The system provides maximum traction by controlling engine torque and braking force while maintaining steering control.
Sand/Mud: For driving in very soft sand or mud where traction is limited due to high tire pressures and slippage, which can cause excessive wheel spinning and breakage. This mode minimizes wheel slip by controlling engine torque and braking force while maintaining steering control.
Rock: For driving on steep hillsides or rocky terrain where traction is limited due to high tire pressures or excessive wheel spin that can cause loss of control. This mode maximizes performance by applying maximum engine torque, increasing the throttle position, and applying a locking slip differential for maximum traction.
