The 2023 Ford Bronco is available with a 2.3-liter turbocharged inline-four producing 300 horsepower, a 2.7-liter twin-turbocharged V6 producing 330 horsepower, or a 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 producing 418 horsepower. Each comes standard with four-wheel drive and a 10-speed automatic transmission, though the four-cylinder engine also has the option of being paired with a seven-speed manual.
The turbo-four delivers surprising power for its cylinder count, and it moves the Bronco swiftly about town and even up to highway speeds, albeit with a little scratchy sound when pushed to its limits. The two different broadcasts complement it well. The 10-speed automatic transmission allows for rapid gear changes. It’s a pleasure to row through the gears with the manual transmission because of how smooth and forgiving the clutch pedal is.
However, the six-cylinder engines really crank up the intensity. The Bronco can go from 0-60 mph in a mere 6.5 seconds thanks to its powerful 2.7-liter engine, and it can also make rapid passes. Pulling a large trailer is made easier thanks to the vehicle’s increased torque. The 3.0 liter V6 is significantly more powerful, but it must overcome the increased mass of the Raptor version. The acceleration is thus equivalent.
