The 2023 Ford Maverick is available in the EcoBoost and Hybrid engines. The Maverick Hybrid has a four-cylinder engine, an electric motor, and an automatic, continuously variable transmission. It is capable of 191 horsepower (CVT).
In contrast, the Maverick EcoBoost has an automatic eight-speed transmission and a four-cylinder turbocharged engine that produces 250 horsepower. Both versions come standard with front-wheel drive. Only the EcoBoost variant offers all-wheel drive as an option.
The Maverick Hybrid may appear lightweight on paper, but it actually has a great deal of muscle. he truck is enthusiastically shuttled off the line and through town by the hybrid system, which also gives it enough oomph when leaping up to highway speeds or overtaking other cars. It takes about 7.5 seconds to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph. Although it sometimes makes the engine drone during heavy acceleration, the CVT runs smoothly and quickly for the most part.
The EcoBoost engine cuts the 0-60 sprint time by about a second, and also has a little more power to provide at full speed. However, in everyday driving, the EcoBoost is equally peppy and aggressive as the Maverick’s hybrid version.
