According to the EPA, the Maverick Hybrid achieves 33 mpg on the interstate and 42 mpg in the city. That is by far the best fuel efficiency of any non-EV pickup, and it even outperforms several compact vehicles.
The Maverick EcoBoost with front-wheel drive gets 23/30 mpg on the motorway and 22/29 mpg in the city. These ratings still outperform competitors like the Honda Ridgeline, Toyota Tacoma, and Hyundai Santa Cruz, despite not being anywhere as fuel-efficient as the hybrid.
Being a uni-body pickup, the Maverick is more like the Ford Escape SUV than the Ford Ranger. In other words, it is a truck that is less capable off-road but is more enjoyable to drive than the traditional body-on-frame pickup.
When doing turns, the Maverick seems calm and composed and moves its body very little from side to side. The truck is simple to drive and park in confined spaces, and the steering is swift and perfectly weighted.
Although the brake pedal in hybrid vehicles is somewhat delicate and can make it hard to make smooth stops, the brakes have excellent stopping force. The suspension, however, is firm, so passengers may experience trembling and shaking when travelling over bumpy terrain. While there is room for cushiness, the ride is fairly comfortable on the whole.
