Ford has just rolled out the update to their SYNC 4 feature, which includes improved performance and driver alerts, but the most significant update is far lower on the list–the higher resolution screens. All the new Ford models equipped with SYNC 4 will have HD screens that make it easier to read information and operate the system. With higher resolution screens, you can now see more details at a glance and interact with them more easily. You can also customize the interface to show only what you need to see, such as navigation directions or your favorite media apps. It also gives you more room to see your contacts and favorites lists.
It is also worth noting that this update only applies to vehicles equipped with the 8-inch touch display option for SYNC 4, not to cars with 6-inch touch displays or standard analog gauges. Ford SYNC 4’s user interface has also been redesigned to make it easier to use by both new and experienced drivers. A new home screen appears when you turn on the car, which features customizable shortcuts for your favorite functions like navigation, music, and contacts. It is too early to say whether or not high-resolution screens will become standard in most vehicles, but hopefully, more automakers will begin transitioning to these better displays in the future.
