BC Drivers: Understanding the Cargo Area of Ford Vehicles

(Posted on Mar 26, 2022 at 01:11PM by Darby Riales)

<img src=""alt="Cargo organizer for Ford vehicles”/>One of the most important features for families to consider when thinking about a new vehicle is the cargo area. This refers to the space that is dedicated to storage inside an automobile, and it varies depending on the body style.

Cars - including coupes and sedans - have a trunk or boot. It can be opened by popping the back hood up. Vans and SUVs have a (typically) larger area located behind the last seats that can be accessed through a liftgate or rear door(s) of some sort. Commercial models tend to have vertical or horizontal split-hinged doors for versatility. On the other hand, trucks usually have hidden compartments under or behind the seats.

Built-in amenities - also called cargo area features - can be found in these spaces. These can be outlets for plugging in accessories, lighting units for illumination, or organizers/nets to secure your items. You may also get liners or trays that are rubberized to protect the underlying carpet from water damage or stains.

Lastly, cargo tie-down loops are another term you may hear in the auto industry. These are hooks, eyelets, or straps that serve as anchors. You can install nets or rope to these points.
