The 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning Brings BlueCruise to BC

Packed full of intelligent features, the 2022 F-150 Lightning promises to elevate your on-road experience, so you can work smarter and be more productive while out in the field. This includes the unveiling of BlueCruise – an autonomous driving system that provides a true hands-free experience on more than 160,934 km (100,000 miles) of pre-qualified divided highways in North America, known as Blue Zones.

As part of Ford’s available Co-Pilot360 technology, BlueCruise combines the truck’s adaptive cruise control system with a lane-centering assistance system to keep the F-150 on a safe path. It uses data from a forward-facing camera and radar units, along with information from the truck’s GPS and map database. 

When BlueCruise detects the F-150 is travelling in an approved Blue Zone, it notifies the driver with a blue lighting within the truck’s instrumentation. Once the system is activated, BlueCruise takes control of all acceleration, braking and steering tasks, allowing the driver to let go of the wheel – and enjoy the ride.
